Lingering Longer

This past weekend we spent in New Mexico celebrating the eighth birthday of gran number four.  His birthday was Saturday and he was also baptized that day.  It was a wonderful day in every way.

Each time we visit our grans and their amazing parents I find myself lingering longer when it is time to go.  Studying each face and trying to memorizing each feature of their precious faces.  Listening intently to their voices so I can replay our conversations over and over again in my mind.  Remembering their words and the funny things they say.

Each visit is a gift, a blessing.  But the parting brings me such great sorrow.

James 1:27

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Right Words

Last week we had an opportunity to pay it forward.  It was a week full of blessings.  But I have been searching for the right words on how I really felt.  I found them today:

“There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.”

Thank you so much Jane Austen for these wonderful words.  Because they truly are the words that my heart felt all week long.

Extra Day

I love it when I have an extra day in the week.  I would love it even more if the week were 8 days instead of 7.  We have legislation for everything else why can’t we have that?  So when I have a non-work, non-weekend day in a week it is a thing of beauty for me.  On this non-work, non-weekend day I did get a few things done for which I would like to go on record for having done them.

  • Slept in until 7:45’ish; loved it;
  • Washed two loads of laundry; they are not folded, just washed;
  • Cleaned my oven; it was in rough shape;
  • Cleaned up the kitchen; it was calling out to me;
  • Cleaned up my desk; it is a daily process but it is clearer then it has been for a while;
  • Used my “Neat” scanner; love the paper it eliminates;
  • Paid a bill and balanced the checkbook; yuck;
  • Did some much needed shredding; I love to shred stuff;
  • Organized the dog’s shot records; keeping track of their vaccinations can get crazy;
  • Made several moves on Words with Friends; it is a free day after all;
  • Did some MBE work; even on a non-work day sometimes I just have to get a couple of steps ahead of the game because I never know what tomorrow will bring!

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Happy Birthday to this Boy!

Nine little years ago all that I ever thought I knew about love went out the window when this boy was born.  This boy showers me with love and kisses like no other.  Every time we visit it is like magic!

Finished……temporarily

Cleaning up and clearing out is:

  • Is like waking a sleeping giant or getting into Pandora's box
  • It takes time to get it right........ a lot of time
  • It is not for sissies or the faint of heart
  • It is exhausting
  • It’s back breaking
  • It’s memory lane taking
  • It takes you places you didn’t think you wanted to go
  • It’s a dirty job making
  • It makes you hate dust more than you already do
  • It’s all consuming and time taking
  • It takes patience and long suffering
  • It's better to do before you are dead
  • It makes me not want to have stuff anymore
  • It is so, so liberating
  • It's done...for today anyway!

Cleaning Up

Spring cleaning has nothing on a good first of the year purging.  I spent most all of today purging my office of piles and piles of yester-year paperwork and a ton of crud!  The office flood was an inconvenient event there is no doubt about it, but it was a great vehicle to get rid of stuff.  I’m not done yet, but tomorrow I will be able to finish up.  Can’t wait to see the results.  Next stop will be home…………stay tune!

Gift Giving

First let me just say, not blogging everyday could be a problem for me.  I thought it might be easier to just let it go then it actually has been.  Last night I wrote a great post and posted it and went to bed.  This morning when I checked my blog poof it was gone.  Gone.  Gone into the abyss of the internet world.  So sad it is gone. So I’ll try again.

We were given a wonderful gift from dear friends for Christmas.  “The Gifts of Love: A Christmas Message” by Henry B. Eyring.  I started to read it then stopped because I wanted to share the read with Mr. Man.  So together we read through it.  I didn’t realize at the start that the words in this message would touch my heart so profoundly and come spilling out my eyes.  I had tears aplenty.

There is so much more to just giving.  Being able to be a good receiver is equally important.  Life is so full of opportunities to give and receive.  To do good. To be better. To become the best we can be.

Sometimes we say, “I’m doing my best!”  But “saying” something is so, so different than actually “doing!”  Doing takes action, it takes thoughtful planning.  Better get started.
