List or No List

I made a wonderful list for Saturday. It looked something like this:

• Prepare DVD for Primary
• Clean bathroom
• Weed
• Vacuum
• Do some Landsend shopping; 40% off
• Blog

By the end of the day it looked like this:

• Prepare DVD for Primary. I made the DVD after much  trial and error. But it still wouldn't work. So turned to Plan B. I'll just take my laptop; in hinsight that wasn't a great idea either.
• Clean bathroom.  Changed my mind; I'm good at that!
• Weed. Mr. Man handled that!
• Vacuum. Talked myself out of it; I'm good at that too!
• Landsend shopping 40% off. No purchase.  Couldn't find anything I liked well enough to buy! 
• Blog. Check

Nice to see I did one thing on the list sucessfully. 

Other things I did that didn't make the list and should have:

• Stayed in bed until 9:30 reading. It was heaven. Although the protest coming from the other room wasn't fun to listen to.
• Worked on some MBE work, it was much needed.
• Played some Words with Friends and lost badly, again still!
• Watched the movie "The Odd Life of Timothy Green". I cried. That kind of cry that constricts your throat and hurts so bad it makes you cry harder.
• Ate some ice cream.  Haven't done that in forever!
• Enjoyed some hot tub time....

This day got a way.  I wouldn’t call it a blur, it was actually quite wonderful.  But slip away it did!!

The Real Fall

Although the calendar said the first day of fall was September 22nd, here in California we really don’t see fall until the temperature really drops and the rains come.  And generally in our neck of the woods the big rains don’t appear until January and February.  This year it has been different.  The rain, rain everywhere has started.  Last night we came home to this, along with some minor flooding in the garage:

And this little tree was full of bright red, yellow and orange leaves just 5 days ago.  But then the rains came.  Now that is fall!!

Get With The Picture

Hello!

This is D2 filling in for mother while she's off galavanting.

I'll be popping in a couple of times in the next week so she can sleep well at night knowing she'll still have a post up on her blog everyday.

Today will be easy, its Super Snapshot Saturday, just pictures. So she says. I am a picture taker so it does seem easy enough. But like my mother, and her mother before her, I like to add a little more. Take it one step farther if you will.

When I was thinking of a picture to share a small part of me wanted to just throw some pictures down of my kids. But this blog is about much more than just them. Then I thought of pictures from my childhood which lead me to pictures of my mother. Being a mother. While I'm pretty good at taking pictures of my kids I'm not so good at getting in the picture with them. At the time my parents were raising little people picture taking wasn't as easy as it is now. It's a whole lot easier to look at a computer folder full of pictures than it is a shoe box under your bed. So there are not what I call a ton of pictures of us kids up to our day to day antics. And there are even fewer of my mother in them. The ones I do have, I treasure. It's a good reminder for me to get in the picture with my kids. Even if it's comfy pant day #7 and day 2 without a shower, they still need to see me being their mom.

The same can be said for them!

 

 



Cut-n-Up

So in the recovery process of a flood one has to remove all areas affect by said flood.  When that happens you have something that looks like this:

They are making great progress but working while that progress is happening makes for interesting days!!!!!

10 Years

Days take forever to get through sometimes.  Weeks can drag on endlessly.  Months can disappear into the night and years just simply fly by.

Ten years ago we moved into this house!

Then we decided to

Today we are home sweet home!

The First Weekend in October

The first weekend in October will find us watching this, General Conference! It is our weekend to be inspired by our leaders. It is a weekend of renewal. It is a weekend I look forward to every six months. Happily this great weekend will happen again the first weekend in April.

This stay-at-home weekend will find us working on small projects around the house as well. It is a blessed weekend.
