He Knows! He Knows!

I love this quote:  "He knows, he knows!  He just doesn't know what he knows!"  It is from an episode of the Dick Van Dyke Show.  Lately it has been running through my mind and I mean running.  After 7 months in the planning I'm about to pull off a grand surprise for Mr. Man as we begin to celebrate his upcoming birthday.  The big 60!  The funniest part is that it is going to happen all around him and he is not even going to realize it at first.

"He knows, he knows!  He just doesn't know what he knows!"

Creative Trickery

My Dad use to always say, "It's not nice to tell a lie!"  Truth be told it isn't nice.  In fact quite honestly I don't know how people have the mind to tell lies; seriously how do they keep up with one untruth after another.  I don't get it.  But sometimes at least in our family we do use creative trickery.  It is not lying in the sense of the definition:
"a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood"  We do it when a surprise is going to take place.  But oh sometimes even with creative trickery my head spins out of control just trying to cover all the bases.  But then again the surprise is oh so worth it.........

I'm not usually speechless or wordless or at a loss over what to write.  For the past several months my ideas come to me days in advance; my mind is always thinking and thinking.........but today I'm ....... without words for reasons I'm not at liberty to say.  Hopefully soon my free thinking will be back!  In the meantime, thanks for checking in!

The Test

Why is it that when you have to take a class before you can take a test that none of the things you studied or learned in the class is on the test. Why is that? Why?  Please if anyone has the answer feel free to shout it out!

Puppy Update

Still loves to hang out with Dottie.  Belle prefers to do her own thing, shockingly enough.  Kala is no longer screaming at bed time, this is good news for everyone.  It seems like she has been with us forever.  Although definitely still a puppy, I look forward to the day when she is not!

I love this face!

Bumper Stickers

On the way home from work we passed a relatively new car whose backside was covered with bumper stickers. A couple of thoughts wandered freely into my mind. One thought was, who would want to cover the backside of their car with stickers. I figured it must be the multi-colored peacock haired driver who was behind the stickers. Had to be.  My next thought was of my dad.  Bumper stickers were a big no no with him. He couldn't stand them.
Funny how things come to me like that!

No Complaint

I am not complaining.  I'm not.  I'm just sayin'!  I have a puppy who seems to have her days and nights mixed up.  She sleeps all day at work.  Which is nice.  Gets home and goes crazy wild with excitement to see Dottie and Belle. Has a quiet moment in the evening but then when bedtime comes wants to shake things up again.  She cries and cries and carries on when we put her in her cart.  After four nights of being up until midnight..........well lets just say I sleep a lot in the car!

Kala, sleeping the work day away!

I'm not a real lover of test taking.  But the test for which I freely admit I'm not looking forward to with any degree of love is a test I have to take on Saturday.  Every four years (that could be a question on the test) I have to take this test.  Every four years I stress over this test, in fact I should be studying for it right now but I'm not.  Every four years there are new laws I have to learn, which really don't apply to me but are part of the test.  Then after all the testing, finger printing and paperwork is complete I get my new notary stamp with an expiration date four years from now, and I think "wow, I'm glad that is over, four years seems like forever away!"  Well it's NOT!

Summer Routine

I love this summer routine.  Giants baseball.  We come home we do what we need to do.  Then we head upstairs or wherever the television is and turn on the game.  Some games are relaxing.  Some games are torture.  But it's what we do and have been doing now together for most of our 38 years of marriage.  (38!)  I always have to ask Mr. Man how many years we have been married because I can't seem to count that high!

Getting to Know You

It is always interesting to watch the girls play but especially when we introduce a new sister.  There was no disappointment this time around.  Of course we had the usual stiffing.  Happily Belle was her usually aloof self but with time I think she is realizing she has an ally.  She didn't even bark at her.  Dottie was ecstatic to have a new sister.  However, her enthusiasm is a little over the top.  It is hard for her to turn it down a notch.  But she is getting better.  Dottie is a blanket girl at any one time there are at least four blankets laying around the house.  She just loves to carry them around where ever she goes.  Well, this afternoon Kala laid down on one of Dottie's blanket and Dottie tried to take her for a ride.  It is never a dull moment!

It happened so fast.........but you get the idea!

I've been waiting so patiently for this little one to join our family.  I knew that she would just magically make her appearance when the time was right.  She didn't disappoint.  Meet Kala.  She is named after Meeka and Lola.  She has big paws to fill but I know she can do it.
I'm not sure where I am.............
Who are you?
Enough with the .............
Fine, I see you aren't going away with that camera!

Freely Speaking

I'm here to say that it doesn't get any better than this for me!  During the past six days I've enjoyed this:

Dinner with S1 and his wife (they were in the City for a weekend get away)
Phone calls with S2
Texting and phone calls with Dil2
Phone calls and texting with D1 and D2
Phone call with Sil2

For some this might not seem big but I love it when I hear their voices, sharing with them their day and just talk about whatever.  Some weeks are busier than others and this much conversation doesn't always get to happen place. But this week was special. I love it and love them!

Driver's Seat

You know when you put just a drop of oil (or water) in a hot skillet and it just bounces all over the place.  That is a description of my mind lately.  Wow it has just been freely bouncing all over the place.  One minute I'm focused on a project and the next thing I know bam another thought pops in my mind to take over at the driver's seat.  And then just when I think I'm back in the driver's seat I get a random text from my "dil" that says, "I hate church! ....'me to!' lol"  Now let me clarify she doesn't hate church and either to do, we love church.  It's an inside joke that she was just thinking about and thought I too might enjoy being reminded of the experience.  She is nice that way.  It made me laugh and also helped me get back on track and into the driver's seat.  A good laugh will do that for me everytime!

He liked the view.  So we named him.  Or maybe his name already was Lance and he was just trying to own what he thought was his.  Either way.  He was entertaining.

Free to Move About the Country

Friday we packed up the camper and headed to the coast.  The cool, foggy coast.  It didn't disappoint it was glorious.  And even better sharing the experience with friends.  Good food, good conservation, fun games, leisurely walk, beautiful surroundings and no technology.  Well that's not totally true we were able to listen to the Giants on KNBR.  After we got home and cleaned up (camping can be dirty) we got back in the car and headed to Novato for dinner with S1 and his wife and their friends!  It was the perfect finale to a perfect weekend!
(I'd like to show you pictures; but my camera is MIA!)

Back in May we made this decision.  We felt it was the right one.  Everything fell into place.  We were confident in our decision.  We were excited about all the possibilities for it.  We requested a quick 20 day close.  Simple.  But then days went by and more days and then more than 20 days went by and we began to wonder "hello" did someone forget to do something.  Shouldn't we be giving someone some money.  So we made a few phone calls.  Oh sorry.  Blah, blah, blah. All of this blah, blah, blah gave us cause to pause.

Just as the decision in May seemed so right.  The decision in July seems just as right.  So we have decided to pull our offer.  Everything happens for a reason.  I'm grateful Heavenly Father knows us enough to give us time.  And with that time our eyes were opened, even though it was confusing initially to give it up we know there was a reason for the delay and that was to give us a chance to revisit our initial decision.  We are grateful for the opportunity to make this new choice!

We are Giants' fans.  Long time.  It's in our blood.  There is no other way in our family.  Generation after generation.  I received this email from my brother recently.  And so the tradition continues.

"He's ready to go out and field some grounders...a little warm up before he watches tonights game. Take notice of the hat. That was mine when I was a kid. I saved my money for it and you took me to the Davis Sport Shop in the Buick wagon to buy it. I remember I had a silver dollar I was willing to use as part of my funds. You didn't want me to spend it so you traded a dollar bill for it. It cost $14.00 that was huge money, but it was the much coveted "pro style" hat like the pros wore.  ....those really were the days."
Go Giants!

In Memory

This is no a secret.  I love dogs.  I am surrounded by them 24-7.  At home.  At work.  I just love them.  Yesterday was not a good dog day for me though.  This little guy was hit by a car and died.

His person, my co-worker, had left on vacation yesterday.  She left him at a kennel the night before and somehow he managed to escape and run into the street.  It was a sad, sad day for all of us.

We love you Wolfgang!
We will miss you forever!
