Experience

#30

Trials. Heartaches. Black Clouds. Troubles. Bad Days. Sorrows. Regrets. Unhappiness. Disappointment. Frustration.  The list could go on and on I know.  But all these words carry for me a negative connotation. Although life is full of all of these words I prefer not to use any of them.  My word is experience; and sometimes adventure. For what is life if not a great big adventure.  I love the scripture in Doctrine and Covenants 122:7 that teaches us ".... that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good."  So when those not so pleasant experiences take place I know they will all be for my good and realizing this makes all the difference.

On the Road Again

#29

I think I must be a gypsy at heart.  Love to pick up and go.  Love to travel the highways and byways.  This Christmas finds us back on the road again.  It is great to be able to pull over at a rest stop and walk to the back of the truck and step into our home away from home.  Of course it is not so great when an alarm sounds because it is trying to tell you the battery is low which you know and don't care about because you are too tired to care but still it won't turn off so you have to cut the wires because it doesn't want to stop even when you ask it nicely.  Oh the adventures of being on the road......

So Blessed to be On the Road Again

Choice

#27

Yesterday in church we talked and learned about choice.  The choices we have, the choices me make.  Each day we are free to choose; what, when, where and how.  That is the greatest blessing, that freedom to choose.  I know that the choices we make are who we become.  I love that I have choices.

It is a blessing to me that no matter where I am in the world I can attend church and the same truths are taught.  No surprises.

Christmas Time

#24

"Christmas is a time for remembering the Son of God and renewing our determination to take upon us His name. It is a time to reassess our lives and examine our thoughts, feelings, and actions. Let this be a time of remembrance, of gratitude, and a time of forgiveness. Let it be a time to ponder the Atonement of Jesus Christ and its meaning for each of us personally. Let it especially be a time of renewal and recommitment to live by the word of God and to obey His commandments. By doing this, we honor Him far more than we ever could with lights, gifts, or parties." --Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Lists

#22

Santa has the right idea.  Making a list and checking it twice.  If I don’t have it on my list, it seems it is forgotten.  I can’t live without my lists.  Once I had lists because I loved to check things off.  Now I have lists so I can remember what to do, what to pack, what to buy and who to call.  Oh lists can’t live without ‘em!

Done

#21

Today I can say I'm blessed to be done.  Back in October which seems like another life ago (or maybe it was even September) I got this brilliant (at the time) idea to make all the Grans (that's 13) PJ's for Christmas.  I love pajamas so I always give pajamas at Christmas time.  It use to be easy to buy matchy matchy because their sizes where all practically the same.  But they are growing and it is hard to find big sizes and itty bitty sizes that match.  So of course I say to myself you could just make them all.  So I bought tons of fabric so the boys would match and tons of fabric so the girls would match.  So 8 pair of pajamas for the boys and 5 nightgowns for the girls.

Well time marched on and right over the top of me.  I went to Kansas and cut them out.  I suppose I could have cut them out in California but the idea of cutting them out in Kansas was so much more appealing.  Plus D2 kindly offered to take one pair of pajamas and two nightgowns off my hands.  So now I only had seven pair of pajamas and 3 nightgowns to make.  In the beginning of my sewing process I was having major doubts and was so tempted to just throw in the towel and buy them.  But I persevered. And today I can say I fought the fight and won the war.
Blessed to be Done

PS I made four hats too! But I'm done. I have to be done. Well I'm done until next year.

Youth

#20

There are certain things said in this family that when said or written take on a life of their own.  I love these little phrases and will remember them always.  Interestingly they were all said by children between the ages of six and seven (if my memory serves me).  So I must share.
  1. "Blue. Blue. Blue."  This was written in a letter to my sister by D1.  Just randomly written blue blue blue.  I love to say it. Blue. Blue. Blue.  It makes my heart sing.
  2. "These are the best years of my life."  This little observation was made by S2 in his elementary school journal.  Sometimes school can be traumatic for a kid; apparently it was not for him.  At least he can't blame me for a bad childhood after all they were the best years of his life remember!
  3. "This is the worst December of my life."  This little statement was brought to me by Gran2 she is seven too.  That child makes me smile and smile and smile.

Anniversary

#18

I'm not sure how this works. Or if I'm saying it right.  But I want to give a Happy Anniversary shout out to my parents for their 59 years of marriage.  Although in this life they only enjoyed 37 years (which that number is not lost on me, inasmuch as Mr. Man and I celebrated 37 years of togetherness this year).  But now they are back together in the Heavens and on this earthly day I shall remember them and their goodness.

More Good News

#16
So as previously mentioned the water heater is terminal. But as mentioned the good news is we get a new one.  It was suppose to be delivered today but good news it came yesterday.  So the plumber is scheduled for Friday more good news.  So we learned that it takes a long while to heat all the water needed for a bath so last night the first thing I did was start the water on the stove.  Bless those pioneers.  Mr. Man started filling up the tub with the cold water then got his first round of hot water off the stove............when he added the pots of hot water to what he thought was cold water running into the tub he realized that the cold water was actually running hot.........hello you wonderful little terminal water heater........you came back to life to serve another day, bless you.  Quick showers all around!

The good news is I love our water heater...
The bad news is it’s broken...
The good news is it’s under warranty...
The bad news is we have to wait for a new one to get here...
The good news is we still have water that we can heat up...
The bad news is………there is no bad news!

Blessed with Good News!

Heat'n up the bath water.

Marriage

#14

Marriage is my blessing today.  In 2010 we celebrated 37 years of togetherness.  Our children collectively celebrated 37 years as well.  We believe in and are blessed by marriage.  As I reflect on this blessing of marriage one thought comes to mind, troubles don’t leave marriage people do.  I feel I've been so blessed as we have traversed through the last 37 years together and that God has seen fit to keep us together so we would have the opportunity to really find each other.

Safety Part Two

#13

Last Wednesday as we left for work the "low tire" light came on in the car.  We stopped and checked the tires and chalked it up to be the cold weather or how the car was parked on the driveway.  Our driveway is steep and we always get that error message in the truck and the Suburban when they are parked on the driveway esapically when the weather is cold so we just figured the same was true with the Camry.  So off we went.  Mr. Man had a busy day of travel heading to Oakland after dropping me off in Cotati.  After his day in Oakland he headed back to Cotati and still the light was on.  Having traveled about 200 miles and with another 40'ish to go to get us home he decided to stop by Les Schwab to have them check it out.  And this is the result of the visit.  Two screws in each of the rear tires..............special!

Blessed once again with Safety

Hugs

#11

I love hugs and feel blessed when I get hugs and give hugs.  Recently a friend shared a term they use in their home after a difficult experience.  They say "hug it out!"  I love that.  A hug just has a way of melting every tension. A hug gives me strength.

Safety

#6

We are blessed with safety.  We are drivers.......well anymore Mr. Man is the driver and I'm the trusty passenger, navigator, email replier, phone answerer, etc.  It is an important job. After all in an airplane there's not just one pilot, there is always a co-pilot.  Well I'm the co-driver!  Anyway, back to safety.  We put lots of miles on our vehicles, we have one car that has over 100K miles on it and it isn't even two years old.  That car is used only for work purposes.   Our other vehicles well collectively they are pushing the 160K mark.  We drive a lot.......what can I say.  But for all those miles we have racked up we have been blessed with safety.

Safety it's a blessing

  • God and His Son Jesus Christ live;
  • I'm a daughter of God and he loves me and knows me;
  • When I read the scriptures I find answers to all questions;
  • My family is for eternity;
  • Everything happens for a reason;
  • That making good choices makes for a blessed life!

Small World

#4

I’m blessed by this small world. Although according to the United States Census Bureau the world population of humans on the planet Earth is estimated to be 6,885,100,000 people; which makes the story I’m about to share even more amazing. Recently, my best bro was in a business meeting where he had the opportunity to introduce himself and share with those attending his area of expertise in the construction world. After the meeting a woman approached him and asked if he knew Evelyn Heath. "Why, yes she is my mother." The women replied, "she made my wedding dress and the dresses for my bridesmaids." This has to go back 20 plus years. They then spoke briefly of those each knew from our hometown; that small world we grew up in. So blessed by this chance encounter in this small world.  And doubly blessed that Mom was part of the encounter.

Night Time

#3

I love the night time........especially when it is really, really late and all you can hear is the clock ticking away.  It is so peaceful.  I'm blessed that I am a night owl.  I seem to get my second wind as the night grows on. (not always a good thing on a work night)  It is during these late hours of quiet I count my blessings .... one by one.
Ahhhhhhhhhh Night Time, you bless me!

Teeth

#2

I’ve been blessed with good teeth.  Nice.Straight.Teeth.  Sure I have a few fillings from childhood days but who doesn't?  Plus I never had to endure braces.   Happily my teeth have been good to me; no cracking, no chipping just happy to be mine and doing their thing.  Now 50 blah-blah years later my teeth have gone royal!  Yes, royal and for that I’m getting a crown!  During this royal crowning a song came on that reminded me to "just breath" and with my gag reflex, that song was a blessing..........timing is everything.
I'm so Blessed......even my teeth!

Work

#1

I'm blessed with work and always have been.  Whether in my home or outside of it; work has always blessed me.  My favorite quote about the blessing of work is:

Let us realize that the priviledge to work is a gift,
The power to work is a blessing,
the love of work is success!

I'm so thankful for my many blessings.  This month of thanksgiving has just given me cause to pause on all that I have to be thankful for in so many ways.  So it only seems nature that as we head into the month of December my thoughts of thanksgiving would turn to my endless blessings.  And for that reason I will be writing in the month of December about blessings

Thanksgiving

#25

So today is the reason for this season of giving thanks.  I'm thankful that this one single holiday has the ability to give so much and asks nothing in return.  I love it because there is no gift giving just simply a day to totally devote to being thankful.  I have so so much to be thankful for.  My cup runneth over.  My list is without end.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Birthdays

#24

Today I’m thankful for birthdays.  Many are not a big fan of the birthday and I will admit there have been a few I would rather not have participated in; although I heard 50 is the new 30.  Seriously, who wants to be 50; wahoo the middle number.  Who can get excited over that, well maybe someone who is looking at 60 or 70…..ah forget that road let’s back up to just being thankful for birthdays.  After all if you don’t have one you must be somewhere else; and for the moment I would rather be right where I am thank you very much.  So happy birthday to all you birthday lovers and a big Birthday Shout Out to D2…………….the best is yet to come!

Differences

#23

I'm thankful for differences.  I strive to embrace the differences I see in others.  (Strive being the operative word) Someone once told me "being different doesn't make us wrong, it just makes us different."  It is simple really, differences and I appreciate that!

Thankful

#22

I'm thankful that this month I have devoted myself to just being thankful.  This has been a great experience and in some cases stopped me from writing something I just might regret later.  Being in the thankful state has helped me to clear my mind of things that I don't want in my mind.  Simply put it helps me clear the mechanism. (Of course having some listening ears has helped too.....you know who you are!)

30 for Thanks

Having just completed 31 for 21 in the month of October, a friend suggested that November can be what we are thankful for.  Bravo I say.  So although I'm a wee bit behind I don't want to forego the idea.  So today I'll play a little catchup.  Won't you join me for "30 for Thanks?"  Each day blog about what you are thankful/grateful for.  I'll bet it makes for a very thoughtful month.

Day #1: Great Friends. Simply put they are the best!

Day #2: Today I'm thankful for the Rain. We've had a bit of rain. It clears the air and cleans the roads and settles the fall dust.  But I love what it does to the barren landscape............turns it green.  Today I noticed it for the first time; the faint hint of green on the hillside.  From this point on we will enjoy the beautiful green rolling hills until at least early May.  Love it!

Day #3: Computers/Technology I'm thankful that at almost any given moment I can talk to my family.  Although miles separate us; computers begin us together.

Double Duty

I love watching baseball with Mr. Man and have been happily doing a lot of it lately.  However, I can't just sit and watch, I have to be doing something besides the occasional screaming in excitement or otherwise at the game.  So what do I do............blog surf and text (a lot of texting going one).  In the process I find good stuff like this!  Free is always good. Not sure how long it will last but it is worth checking out!

For the Love of the Game

Some of my earliest and fondest memories of my Dad are of him listening to Giants baseball. He loved the Giants and because he loved the Giants I loved the Giants too.

Candlestick was the park of my youth and many memories were made there.  I took Mr. Man there to see his first professional baseball game and the Idaho boy thought he was going to freeze to death.  He didn't believe me when I told him you are going to need a coat!  But it is 100 degrees he says to me in protest; he didn't realize that Candlestick was its own weather zone of freezing cold even on the hottest summer day.

Mr. Man wasn't always a Giants fan; that of course has changed.  Today we are a family of Giants lovers.  The tradition lives on and as I spoke to each of the kids tonight each one, yes even the girls were enjoying the Giants do what they do best....................
provide drama!

I love the commitment I make each October for 31 for 21.  I love that each day and sometimes days in advance my mind is furiously thinking about what to write about next.  I love to write albeit some days I have more to say than others.  After a month this should be a habit. Right?  I hope so.

Why Ya Gotta Yell?

Why do ya?  It can be so disappointing.  Two examples.

Example One:

I love XM radio. I can't help it. I have four. I pay for four. Sometimes I want to listen to it on my computer as well. I use to be able to do that for free because I already paid for XM for my cars. But now that has changed and they want to (want being the operative word) charge me to listen to it on my computer. So I have to call and be ornery for them to see that I shouldn't have to pay an additional fee to listen on my computer.  Really people, I pay four times, four times too much and you think I'm going to pay again. I don't think so. I now have one year free, when my year is up I will call back and be ornery again so I can get another year free.

Example Two:

Probably two words is all I need to say for you to understanding the disappointment and the need for a stern voice with this example. Insurance and Doctors. I think I've said enough, you know where I'm going with this. Why repeat what you already know. These professions just love to antagonize each other. They are pot stirrers. It is a love/hate relationship. They create business for themselves by getting the patient involved because really who can be patient with either of them. They create heartburn, headaches, nightmares, high blood pressure and the list goes on.

All so disappointing................

Sunday Goodness

My word today is blessed.  Simply put I have been.  And a day does not go by when I don't give thanks for every single blessing that is mine.  Today it will be no different.

Friends

What would I do without them?
I Don't Want To Know!
I laugh with them,
I cry with them,
I dream with them,
I learn from them,
I am who I am because of them!
But mostly I'm just so grateful for them!
