Warmth

It is no secret that I’m not a fan of cold weather or any of the things that go along with it like snow and ice and things.  So today I’m thankful to be inside.  Where the temperature is nice and toasty.  Where I can watch the grans play with their new sleds from the window!  It just works better for me that way!

Thankful for the power of it,
The answers that are found,
The peace that it gives.

Our Home

I’m thankful to come home each night to our home.  I’m thankful for a roof over our head.  For all the walls that surround us.  For its warmth and comfort. It is our perfect home and each day I’m thankful for it.

Guest Writer

It is hard to believe another November is almost gone.  I know a repetitive statement but truth nonetheless.  Even harder to believe is that we have been back at work almost a week after our gallivanting Thanksgiving adventure!

But all that said I must send a big thank you to my guest writer who helped me out in my absence.  I loved reading about what was going on in her world.  In fact it was such a great thing for me I should have my “guest” write for me more often.  Just sayin’

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am most thankful for this day.  My most favorite holiday ever!  And this I might add is all that is left of it!

Things and their reasons

I'm not so thankful when a curve ball is thrown.  But I do know everything happens for a reason.  And for that I'm thankful.  For I know when one door closes so rapidly behind me another door is waiting with open arms.  It is at that time that I will look back with fondness and not with regret.  I will move forward with grace and remember again all things happen for a reason and tomorrow there will always be sunshine.  It is just the way I march through life.

To my dear sweet friend “B” if you are reading this know that you will always be in my heart and that will never be taken away.  No regrets, only fond yesterdays and happy tomorrows.

Water

I’m thankful it was clean water and not

dirty water or ocean water or muddy water!

I’m thankful it was on a weekday and not a weekend!

Rain

Today I’m thankful for the rain.  I love how it clears the air and refreshes the earth.  Rain … it’s so thoughtful that way.

Teachers

Today my thankfulness is for the teachers in my world.  So many great ones. So many amazing ones.  But the ones I love to learn from most are the ones under 10 and the ones with four legs.

Lemonade

Sometimes it hardly seems fair that a person with fourteen grandchildren should live states (several states in some cases) away from said grandchildren. After all aren't grandparents supposed to spoil and otherwise override all rules set by the parents?  (That was a rhetorical question; no need to send an answer, thank you!)  It is vexing to me that I find myself in such a predicament. However, when I remember the words of my father, "if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, everyday would be Christmas" I realize maybe the miles away aren't as bad as they could be.  Considering they are so thrilled to see us at every visit; if it were daily or even weekly the response might be something like this, "oh it's you again!" I'm thankful for things like the internet and airplanes that whisk us away.  Sure it isn't the perfect scenario but it is our scenario and I'm good with it.  Because when life gives me lemons I always make lemonade.

Autumn

I can’t say I’ve always been an Autumn fan.  She is just too close to Winter.  I’m more of a warm girl.  But in life we change and I have grown to enjoy the beauty of Autumn and her colors.  She is kind of underrated; she seems to fly under the radar.  One minute summer, next minute boom Winter.  Hey what happened to Autumn? But I notice her and I’m thankful for her.  She is definitely in the air!

Triggers

It would seem that the days roll by so fast at times that I have hardly a moment to think.  I try to live with a thankful heart and feel each moment I live is a blessing.  But with the speed of time I rarely take a moment to stop and count all the things I’m thankful for.  But then along comes a trigger.  It stops me dead in my tracks and gives me cause to pause.

This little spoon I used to feed all of my babies.  This little spoon has been around for a long while.  This little spoon reminded me of all my greatest blessings.  I’m so thankful for this little spoon!

End of the Day

Some days by the end of the day the thing I’m most thankful for is just getting to the end of it.

Learning

I love learning.  I read recently this thought “educate yourself with the truth.”  I try each day to live in the truth and to learn something new along the way.  I love to read.  I love knowledge.  I’m thankful for the things I’ve learned in my life and opportunities to continue on the path of learning.  You can never learn enough!

Positive Thinking

I believe in the power of Positive Thinking.  I know it works.  So I’m not a fan of jury duty; I appreciate our judicial system but I feel it is pretty flawed in a lot of ways but that is a post for another day.  What I want to write about today is the power of Positive Thinking.  Usually when I get a jury duty notice it is with a certain amount of dread; at least when it first arrives in the mail.  But after its arrival I turn on my PT knowing that sure I got the notice but when I call the night before my number won’t be picked.  Nine times out of ten this is what happens.  This time however my PT wasn’t going in that direction.  Not sure why.  It just wasn’t working for me, I wasn’t feeling it.  I knew I was going to have to go.  And sure enough when I called the day before my number was picked; leaving me feeling like hey what happened to the Positive Thinking.  I guess I just got a late start on it.  Then I got to thinking it is never too late to think positively.  And in fact I realized what was going to happen is, I would go to court and when we were all called into the courtroom the judge would say, “Thank you for coming here today but this case has just settled and you are all free to go.  And the best part your name will not be called for jury duty for another year!”  Well, guess what?  That is exactly how it happened.  I’m telling you people there is power in Positive Thinking.  It.Does.Work. And I’m thankful for it!
