Experience

#30

Trials. Heartaches. Black Clouds. Troubles. Bad Days. Sorrows. Regrets. Unhappiness. Disappointment. Frustration.  The list could go on and on I know.  But all these words carry for me a negative connotation. Although life is full of all of these words I prefer not to use any of them.  My word is experience; and sometimes adventure. For what is life if not a great big adventure.  I love the scripture in Doctrine and Covenants 122:7 that teaches us ".... that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good."  So when those not so pleasant experiences take place I know they will all be for my good and realizing this makes all the difference.

On the Road Again

#29

I think I must be a gypsy at heart.  Love to pick up and go.  Love to travel the highways and byways.  This Christmas finds us back on the road again.  It is great to be able to pull over at a rest stop and walk to the back of the truck and step into our home away from home.  Of course it is not so great when an alarm sounds because it is trying to tell you the battery is low which you know and don't care about because you are too tired to care but still it won't turn off so you have to cut the wires because it doesn't want to stop even when you ask it nicely.  Oh the adventures of being on the road......

So Blessed to be On the Road Again

Music

#28

I love music. I love the way it makes me feel. Energized. Peaceful. Melancholy. Alive. I really love the music of our grans.  Their sweet voices are music to my ears.

Choice

#27

Yesterday in church we talked and learned about choice.  The choices we have, the choices me make.  Each day we are free to choose; what, when, where and how.  That is the greatest blessing, that freedom to choose.  I know that the choices we make are who we become.  I love that I have choices.

No Matter Where

#26

It is a blessing to me that no matter where I am in the world I can attend church and the same truths are taught.  No surprises.

Christmas Time

#24

"Christmas is a time for remembering the Son of God and renewing our determination to take upon us His name. It is a time to reassess our lives and examine our thoughts, feelings, and actions. Let this be a time of remembrance, of gratitude, and a time of forgiveness. Let it be a time to ponder the Atonement of Jesus Christ and its meaning for each of us personally. Let it especially be a time of renewal and recommitment to live by the word of God and to obey His commandments. By doing this, we honor Him far more than we ever could with lights, gifts, or parties." --Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Lists

#22

Santa has the right idea.  Making a list and checking it twice.  If I don’t have it on my list, it seems it is forgotten.  I can’t live without my lists.  Once I had lists because I loved to check things off.  Now I have lists so I can remember what to do, what to pack, what to buy and who to call.  Oh lists can’t live without ‘em!

Done

#21

Today I can say I'm blessed to be done.  Back in October which seems like another life ago (or maybe it was even September) I got this brilliant (at the time) idea to make all the Grans (that's 13) PJ's for Christmas.  I love pajamas so I always give pajamas at Christmas time.  It use to be easy to buy matchy matchy because their sizes where all practically the same.  But they are growing and it is hard to find big sizes and itty bitty sizes that match.  So of course I say to myself you could just make them all.  So I bought tons of fabric so the boys would match and tons of fabric so the girls would match.  So 8 pair of pajamas for the boys and 5 nightgowns for the girls.

Well time marched on and right over the top of me.  I went to Kansas and cut them out.  I suppose I could have cut them out in California but the idea of cutting them out in Kansas was so much more appealing.  Plus D2 kindly offered to take one pair of pajamas and two nightgowns off my hands.  So now I only had seven pair of pajamas and 3 nightgowns to make.  In the beginning of my sewing process I was having major doubts and was so tempted to just throw in the towel and buy them.  But I persevered. And today I can say I fought the fight and won the war.
Blessed to be Done

PS I made four hats too! But I'm done. I have to be done. Well I'm done until next year.

Youth

#20

There are certain things said in this family that when said or written take on a life of their own.  I love these little phrases and will remember them always.  Interestingly they were all said by children between the ages of six and seven (if my memory serves me).  So I must share.
  1. "Blue. Blue. Blue."  This was written in a letter to my sister by D1.  Just randomly written blue blue blue.  I love to say it. Blue. Blue. Blue.  It makes my heart sing.
  2. "These are the best years of my life."  This little observation was made by S2 in his elementary school journal.  Sometimes school can be traumatic for a kid; apparently it was not for him.  At least he can't blame me for a bad childhood after all they were the best years of his life remember!
  3. "This is the worst December of my life."  This little statement was brought to me by Gran2 she is seven too.  That child makes me smile and smile and smile.

Anniversary

#18

I'm not sure how this works. Or if I'm saying it right.  But I want to give a Happy Anniversary shout out to my parents for their 59 years of marriage.  Although in this life they only enjoyed 37 years (which that number is not lost on me, inasmuch as Mr. Man and I celebrated 37 years of togetherness this year).  But now they are back together in the Heavens and on this earthly day I shall remember them and their goodness.

More Good News

#16
So as previously mentioned the water heater is terminal. But as mentioned the good news is we get a new one.  It was suppose to be delivered today but good news it came yesterday.  So the plumber is scheduled for Friday more good news.  So we learned that it takes a long while to heat all the water needed for a bath so last night the first thing I did was start the water on the stove.  Bless those pioneers.  Mr. Man started filling up the tub with the cold water then got his first round of hot water off the stove............when he added the pots of hot water to what he thought was cold water running into the tub he realized that the cold water was actually running hot.........hello you wonderful little terminal water heater........you came back to life to serve another day, bless you.  Quick showers all around!

Marriage

#14

Marriage is my blessing today.  In 2010 we celebrated 37 years of togetherness.  Our children collectively celebrated 37 years as well.  We believe in and are blessed by marriage.  As I reflect on this blessing of marriage one thought comes to mind, troubles don’t leave marriage people do.  I feel I've been so blessed as we have traversed through the last 37 years together and that God has seen fit to keep us together so we would have the opportunity to really find each other.

Safety Part Two

#13

Last Wednesday as we left for work the "low tire" light came on in the car.  We stopped and checked the tires and chalked it up to be the cold weather or how the car was parked on the driveway.  Our driveway is steep and we always get that error message in the truck and the Suburban when they are parked on the driveway esapically when the weather is cold so we just figured the same was true with the Camry.  So off we went.  Mr. Man had a busy day of travel heading to Oakland after dropping me off in Cotati.  After his day in Oakland he headed back to Cotati and still the light was on.  Having traveled about 200 miles and with another 40'ish to go to get us home he decided to stop by Les Schwab to have them check it out.  And this is the result of the visit.  Two screws in each of the rear tires..............special!

Blessed once again with Safety
